The Quality Assurance Program for Public Health Services was launched by Ministry of Health in October 1991. Indicators were developed for the various disciplines which included Family Health, Food Quality and Disease Control.Currently there are 14 national indicators that are being monitored.

A new indicator for dengue was added in 1997. The indicator is Dengue Law Enforment Index with 70% optimum achievable standard. Any indicators which do not achieved the target set need to be fully investigated following the "model of good care" guidelines.
