The school health services was jointly implemented by the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health in 1973. It was designed to protect, promote and maintain an optimum health of our pupils.

There are 82 primary schools and 32 secondary schools in the district. The yearly coverage of schools by the 2 school health teams are 100 %. The most common problem detected among the school children is abnormal visual acuity.

• Students are examined by the staff nurse.

• Visual acuity test.

• School children are given booster doses of BCG and DT. Secondary school girls are also immunized against rubella.
